Common Causes

When Outlook and Google Calendar use different timezone settings, meeting times can appear incorrect for recipients. This guide walks you through aligning the timezone configuration in both applications, fixing existing invites, and preventing future mismatches.

Quick Fix Steps

  1. Confirm your computer’s timezone is correct in Settings → Time & language → Date & time.
  2. In Outlook, verify the calendar timezone:
    1. Open Outlook.
    2. Go to File → Options → Calendar.
    3. Under Time zones, ensure the correct zone is selected and tick Show a second time zone if you work across regions.
  3. In Google Calendar, check the timezone:
    1. Open Google Calendar in a browser.
    2. Select Settings ⚙️ → Settings.
    3. Under Time zone, choose the same zone as in Outlook.
  4. Resend the affected meeting invite after both calendars show the same timezone.
Tip: If you frequently schedule with contacts in other regions, enable the second time zone in Outlook and add additional time zones in Google Calendar under Additional time zones.
