Step 1: Identify the Interference Source

Interference generally falls into two categories: Physical/Electronic (non-Wi-Fi devices) and Congestion (other Wi-Fi networks). To analyse your environment, use a Wi-Fi analyser tool.

Look for "overlapping" arcs in the graph. If your network is sitting on the same channel as three other neighbouring businesses, you are experiencing congestion.

Step 2: Changing Your Wireless Channel

Most modern routers are set to Auto, but they don't always choose the clearest path. Manually selecting a channel can stabilise the connection.

  1. Open a web browser and enter your router's gateway IP address (usually 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1) into the address bar.
  2. Log in using your administrator credentials.
  3. Navigate to the Wireless or Advanced Setup menu.
