Having trouble joining Teams meetings? Follow these steps to get connected quickly.
Quick Fixes
1. Use the Right Link
- Click the meeting link in the calendar invite
- Or: Go to the meeting invite → Click Join Microsoft Teams Meeting
- Make sure you're clicking, not copying/pasting the URL
2. Check Your App Version
- Open Teams
- Click your profile picture → About → Version (now under Settings → About)
- If outdated, Teams usually updates automatically, but you can manually check for updates
3. Try the Browser Version
- Click the meeting link
- Select Join on the web instead
- Use Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, Safari or Firefox – all are supported as of 2024
Tip: If the web version still won’t join, clear the Teams cache:

- Wait in the "lobby" and someone will let you in

- Check your Microphone: Ensure it’s not muted (Ctrl + Shift + M)
- Check your Camera: Ensure it’s enabled and not blocked

"Something went wrong" Error
- Close and reopen Teams
- Restart your computer
- Try joining from the browser instead
- If the problem persists, check for network or firewall restrictions that may block Teams traffic
Warning: Corporate firewalls or proxy settings can prevent Teams from connecting. Ensure ports 443 and 3478‑3481 are open.
